Am I too young for God to use me?

Wednesday, 8 February 2017

This question is common but in a way I don’t think is asked enough. I think the young people of today sometimes don’t even ask and just assume that God wants to use someone more experienced and wise.

Maybe you're reading this and can relate. Maybe you would really like to go on a mission trip, start a bible study or evangelize at your school but are afraid that you don’t have much to offer.

I believe that young youth that are striving to know and love God can be some of the most influential people. I often here now and remember hearing when I was younger the perspective that the majority of young people have… that you have to wait till your older and then you can start doing significant things for God. The older I get the more I realize how far from the truth that mindset is.

‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.’

In the Bible Josiah was only 8 years old when he became king!

Second Kings 22:2 introduces Josiah by saying, And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the way of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.’

The Bible portrays Josiah as a faithful and a young man full of integrity. I imagine that you reading this are older then 8… so imagine how God could use you.Even the story of David killing Goliath! It wasn’t because David was a massive boy with really big muscles that he was able to defeat the giant it was simply because of his faith and trust that his God was bigger!

If you are challenged and convicted to live radically for God, to live a life full of faith that points people to God then go for it! Read the stories of how God used his people and pray that God to will use you.

Joshua 1:9 – ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’
