I don't feel called overseas? Can God still use me?

Firstly…why do we have to always associate mission with overseas? Why can’t we associate mission with each and every day?

In the Bible we see that Jesus’ whole life was a mission! Yes… he travelled to some places but actually not too far, and the main people he reached were the ones right in front of him and the ones that were lost! The bible does ask us to go in to world and make disciples out of all nations and yes we can go all over the world and do this; but it does not have to be the only time we are on ‘mission’. Mission really can start from the moment you wake up, the way we treat our families and friends to every person we come in contact with.

Unfortunately I think in our lives we become so busy that we have had to make ‘mission’ with ‘everyday life’ two different things and I believe this is a problem! As Christian our everyday life should be on mission. At work, at school, at home our lives should be a reflection of the love and grace Jesus has shown to us. We should be always seeking to do the will of God, to not be ashamed of our faith and willing to share if the opportunity arises. We are not called to just be ‘Sunday Christians’.

Romans 10:13-14

For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

Once we have heard the good news of Jesus and the salvation he offers we should want to tell the people around us of the hope that we have! I think being a Christian is an exciting and adventurous life! We get to be courageous, bold and full of love not by own strength but by the creator of the universes. We have such a big responsibility to be on mission and we need to wake up each morning remembering this. Try it… I dare you! Instead of waking up thinking about the plans you’ve made and all the things you have to do, try waking up ready for God to speak, try being available for him to use us and be obedient to his voice and spirit.

He will use you!
